Our Story

How it all started...

Tom and Kathryn Stark were drawn to the people of Mequon.  While planting churches in the Pacific Northwest, the Stark's would visit family in the Milwaukee area.  Through conversations with people in Mequon, Tom and Kathryn were compelled to sell their home in Washington State and move by faith to come and share Jesus with the people of Mequon.  Why?  We discovered while many people claimed to have a faith in Christ, most did not go to church, or synagogue.  There's a great need to understand God's Word and learn, digging deeper into the things of God.  We saw a hunger to know more, celebrate more, to gather more and share community within the Body of Christ, the Church.  It's been interesting getting immersed into a completely different culture, but God has been good to us.  People have been warm and accepting that we desire to tell them about Jesus.  Upon moving to Mequon, Westlake Church had been supported and confirmed by the NAMB, North American Mission Board and the SEND NETWORK, of Church Planters.  National recognition gives us support, training, opportunities and coordination of Church Plants occurring in the City of Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin.  Weathering the recent Covid crisis and the pandemic closure of public meetings, we've continued to meet online via Zoom and work together with our partners, serving our community through The Farmers to Families Program, Easter Egg Hunts, End of Summer Barbecues, Holiday Gatherings in homes, Soup Social Cookie Exchanges and recently the Family Bicycle Ride in Mequon on the Interurban Trail.  We continue to network and look forward launching a regular weekly service.  We would love to have you join the Team!

Serving Our Neighbors

The Farmers to Family Programs provided 3 Semi-trucks, over 1000 boxes of food in each, to people in need, in our community.  Westlake Church was there to assist in the planning, providing, scheduling and muscle, unloading boxes of food for several communities.

Where we are headed...

We would like to see our Church community grow.  Like a droplet of water rippling in a lake, we realize that people come to know about Jesus, one person at a time.  We also understand that not all people are open to hearing about Jesus in our present culture.  For this reason we must pray the openness and knowledge of God be prevalent through our witness and the Power of God, the Holy Spirit goes before us.  Please pray for our neighbors, friends, family and community.
